Avenel is an Australian-owned family company based in Victoria. While many of their specialty styles are still proudly Made in Australia using locally sourced materials, their broader range is designed in Australia and produced globally to access the world's finest artisanal materials.

To find your fit, use a soft tape measure around your head, approximately 12mm (1/2") above your ears and eyebrows where the hat would naturally sit. If you fall between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size. Many Avenel styles also feature internal adjustable bands for a more customised fit.

Most of Avenel's wool and fur felt hats are naturally water-resistant, meaning they can handle light rain. Many specific models, such as the Boone, are further treated during manufacturing to be water-repellent. However, avoid soaking your hat, as this can affect the shape and finish.

For wool felt, use a soft-bristle brush regularly to remove dust, or gentle steam to lift grime and reshape the crown. Straw and paper braid hats should be wiped with a damp cloth and kept dry. For cotton or canvas styles, spot-clean with a mild detergent.

"Crushable" hats, like the Avenel Ziggy or Bennett, are designed to be packed flat or knocked about during travel without losing their original shape. They are the perfect companion for outback adventures and long days on the road.
